One of
my big time loves is traveling. Not that I like the
airplane thing so much, its just the getting out and seeing
how the rest of the world lives. I gathered a few of
my travel pictures in no particular order. If you get
bored, just go to the next page. You know these people
with their albums . . . .just can't get rid of them:
(1)
Worlds Fair in Canada (2) Southern most tip of
USA in Hawaii. Not a palm tree in site and you need to
go through a cemetery to get there. To go fishing one
needs to go down the cliff by rails to get the boats that
are resting in the serf and then pull the boat in by a
pulley (3) Fishing in Alaska, my Middle Son
spent a year doing this. But for the will of God and
my many prayers did I make it. God was on his side
also. Several years later my Sis' Son was on a boat
that went down and he was one of a very few crew that made
it out alive.
(1)Arizona
and the beautiful blooming cactus (2) the Real London
Bridge in Lake Havasu that had been taken apart in London
and brought to Arizona.
(1)
Nogales, Mexico ..I bought rugs and continued on to NM
(2) My first balloon ride with champagne when landing,
in Albuquerque (3) then on to the Pueblos of Acoma.
The women own the land and pass it down to their daughters,
its the Acoma Indian tradition. Their pottery and art
work is just wonderful.
We
brought back 57 rolls of film from this trip and you will
only get to see just a few. A trip to the
Mediterranean, nearly 4 weeks and 7 countries . . . a trip
of a lifetime for me!!!
(1)
Madrid, Spain by Costelanlia Hotel. Boutiques on the
ground floor and apartments above. (2) Portugal, Vasco
de Gamma Hotel - fishing boats are hauled in and out by
tractor, no buoys, no moorage. Monte Gordo.
(1)
Leaving Algersaris, Spain on a Russian Hydrofoil to Tangier,
N. Africa, past the Rock of Gibraltar (2) The
Kasbah in Tangier, North Africa. I didn't get a rug
but did buy a leather purse cured in camel pee, no
noticeable odor until we returned to the enclosed hydrofoil.
(3) Costa del Sol, the famous topless beaches of the
Mediterranean, then returned to Madrid with the camel pee
cured purses (stinky, stinky) hanging out the car windows
trying to air out on our way to a bull fight.
(1)next
stop was Jerusalem, Mt of Olives, Hotel Jaffa Gate - the pic
is of going to the "old" market. (2)pic is
of a street in Nazareth, we also visited the Masada,
Dead Sea, Dome of the Rock and Jericho (3) and the Wailing
Wall - I put my little prayer on a piece of paper and stuck
it in a crack.
(1)
Finally got to the ship for a 2 week cruise and mucho mucho
food. (2) Patmos, Greece - the smallest island
of the chain, white, sun, tiles, beauty. If you want
to see the other places in Greece, come see me for a visit.
(1)Coluseum
in Turkey not far from the Seaport (and I can't remember the
name, figure that!) (2) Alexandria Egypt.
I would love to return and study the culture. Such a
contradiction of life styles, such friendly people.
(3)Luxor with the pyramids, camels, and fast taxis.
What a Blast! THEN WE HAD TO COME HOME . . . racing
across the tarmac to catch a plane that was sorely
overbooked with people that were half as tall as we were,
then sitting at the Paris airport waiting on the tarmac for
2 hours - before it was fashionable, and no! they would not
let us off the plane. It took us 32 straight hours
from the time we left Egypt until we arrived back to SeaTac.
Glad to get back home.
Part of my family and trip to Hawaii, 2001 - where I first
found gourds.
